Eudora man given two-year probation term in connection with child’s broken arm

A 24-year-old Eudora man was sentenced Tuesday to a two-year probation term in connection with a broken arm his 4-year-old daughter suffered in April.

Max A. Alcanter, as part of a plea bargain, had previously pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated battery.

The probation sentenced handed down by Douglas County District Judge Kay Huff was recommended by both the defense and prosecutors. Huff noted that Alcanter — who had no previous criminal history — attended all of his court and counseling sessions, and had received positive feedback from service providers.

Alcanter has been working with service providers to re-integrate back into his daughter’s life, his defense attorney said.
