Morgantown, W.Va. Shaking off just its second first-set loss of the year, 24th-ranked Kansas University used a 14-kill effort from third-year junior Caroline Jarmoc to knock off West Virginia and improve to 3-0 in conference play for the first time in program history, 15-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-17, on Wednesday.
In their first meeting as members of the same conference, Kansas (15-2 overall, 3-0 Big 12) moved to 3-0 all-time against West Virginia (8-10, 0-5).
“It just means that we need to get ready for Baylor,” KU coach Ray Bechard said of the 3-0 start. ”They’re a very good team, and I know they’re very hungry to get off to a good start in Big 12 play, as well. It’s obviously a good start, with two of those wins on the road, but it’s a good start, and now we’ll get ready for Saturday.”
Jarmoc chalked up 14 kills without an error to lead the Jayhawks with a .538 hitting efficiency.
KU will host Baylor at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Horejsi Center.
