Vehicle crashes through house Sunday morning

The garage at 1913 E. 30th Street in Lawrence is boarded up, after police say a 19-year-old woman intentionally ran her vehicle through it and the rest of the home on Nov. 18.

Lawrence police say that a 19-year-old woman intentionally struck a home with her vehicle following an argument, though no injuries were reported.

A vehicle crashed into the garage of a single-family home about 9:10 a.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of East 30th Street, according to Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley.

The vehicle drove through several interior walls and “partially out the rear wall of the house,” McKinley said.

The driver fled the scene but was found about one block from the crash. She was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, McKinley said.

There was extensive damage to the house and the vehicle.

McKinley said officers later discovered that the driver intentionally struck the home following an argument with someone in the home.

The woman was not arrested, but the case was forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
