KU swimming in first place at Kansas Classic

? Kansas University women’s swimming is in first place after the first day of the Kansas Classic on Friday at Hummer Sports Complex.

Kansas, with 266 points, leads Notre Dame, which has 257. Nebraska, Iowa State, Rice and Nebraska-Omaha also are in the field.

Kansas’ Alina Vats, Brooke Brull, Morgan Sharp and Haley Molden placed third in the 200 freestyle relay. Sharp, Molden and Chelsie Miller placed 2-3-4 in the 500 freestyle while Miller, Brull and Deanna Marks placed 2-3-4 in the 200 IM. Vats, Bryce Hinde, Marks and Molden swam to a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay.

Lawrence High graduate Emma Reaney of Notre Dame won the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.79, nearly five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Reaney swam on the first-place 400-yard medley relay and anchored the second-place 200-yard freestyle relay.
