Mah fails in final count

TOPEKA — After Shawnee County finished counting provisional votes late Thursday night, Republican Ken Corbet was declared the winner of the 54th District House seat, ousting incumbent Ann Mah by a total of 21 votes.

Mah told The Topeka Capital-Journal late Thursday night that she will not mount a legal challenge.

The final tally, after results were canvassed in Douglas, Osage and Shawnee counties, had Corbet with 5,394 votes to Mah’s 5,373, the Capital-Journal reported.

The largest part of the 54th District is in Shawnee County, which Mah won, but voters in Osage and Douglas counties favored Corbet.
