Thanksgiving day 5K run/walk: runLawrence will host the ninth-annual holiday run on Nov. 22 starting again from Woodlawn School. The Road Runners Club of America has designated the 5K as the state championship, with top runners getting special awards. But the run remains open to all runners and walkers. Dickson in nationals: Mariah Dickson, a former Free State volleyball player, is a member of the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team that won its regional last week and advanced to the NJCAA national tournament next week. Hutchinson was one of 16 teams to reach the national tournament. Dickson plays right side for the Dragons, who received a 10 seed for the opening round.
Tower run: Brenda Harrington of Lawrence was the women’s winner in the DTI Tower Run on Nov. 10 in Topeka. Approximately 60 runners took part in the event from the first to the 16th floors of the Bank of Amerca tower.
