KU volleyball sweeps OU

Sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Albers set a career-high with 13 kills as No. 22-ranked Kansas University swept Oklahoma and set the school record with their 14th home victory this season.

KU beat OU, 25-18, 29-27, 26-24 on Wednesday at Horejsi Center, its 10th sweep of the seaosn.

“We’ve protected home turf with the exception of one time,” KU coach Ray Bechard said. “There have been a lot of really good teams come through here that we’ve been able to knock off, so that’s pretty satisfying.”

Albers, a sophomore from Papillion, Neb., also tied a season high with four total blocks to lead Kansas (22-6, 10-4) against Oklahoma (19-10, 8-6).

Junior middle blocker Caroline Jarmoc led the Jayhawks with 16 kills, joining Albers, sophomore outside hitter Sara McClinton (11) and senior middle blocker Tayler Tolefree (11) who all finished the match in double figures. The offensive output marked the seventh time this season that Kansas has had four players with at least 10 kills. Facilitating the balanced KU attack was junior setter Erin McNorton, who tallied 49 assists for the match.

KU will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to face TCU at 1 p.m. Saturday.
