Lawrence man charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated battery

A 19-year-old Lawrence man was charged Friday in Douglas County District Court with several charges stemming from a Thursday aggravated robbery in the 2400 block of Louisiana Street.

Michael P. Mason is being held on a $30,000 bond on charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated battery and theft. He was arrested by Lawrence police about 9 a.m. Thursday after a resident woke up to find someone in his apartment taking items, said Lawrence Police spokeswoman Kim Murphree.

The resident confronted the intruder, and they struggled. Police arrived and arrested the suspect, Murphree said. Mason’s next court hearing is Tuesday.
