A Lawrence man was taken to jail on charges of disorderly conduct after he was accused of chasing another man with a weapon around 9 p.m. Thursday evening.
Lawrence Police Sgt. Craig Shanks said police were called to the 1100 block of East 13th Street after numerous complaints that a man, wielding either a knife, hatchet or baseball bat, was trying to attack another man. Police found the man whom witnesses had described and took him to jail on charges of disorderly conduct.
Shanks said police were unable to contact the victim.

I know this is probably just based on reports, but "either a knife, hatchet, or baseball bat" are quite diverse. Sounds like a weak witness testimony.

And an even weaker victim testimony, ",,,police were unable to contact the victim."

Might be time for the Lions Club to have a vision drive in this neighborhood.

adam adam adam ... watch your use of language, you and the editors.
the attacker obviously didn't attempt but he did simply attack the victim with whatever sharp impliment it was. then, it would be accurate to say the attacker "attempted to assault" "attempted to stab" attempted to kabob" etc.
yes, one wonders about the members of the bum army. if you build it, they will come.

That complex is a dump. Poorly maintained and incompetent management. Almost constant police action there. The landlord trades rent for favors.
