Kansas Chamber puts $96K into legislative races

? Campaign finance reports show the Kansas Chamber of Commerce spent more than $96,000 in just three days to help conservative Republican candidates in their final push for the Kansas Legislature.

The chamber’s political action committee reported the spending this week. It occurred during the last three days of October.

The PAC spent almost $52,000 on radio advertising for GOP state Senate candidates Steve Fitzgerald of Leavenworth and Bob Reader of Manhattan.

Fitzgerald is trying to unseat Democratic Sen. Kelly Kultala of Kansas City. Reader is seeking an open seat, having defeated GOP Sen. Roger Reitz of Manhattan in the primary.

The chamber also reported spending about $44,000 on mailings for six Senate candidates and 26 House candidates.
