Another Free State High football victory last week wasn’t enough to push the Firebirds to No. 1 in this week’s Class 6A Kansas Football Media Poll.

The Firebirds (8-1) stayed put at No. 2, behind top-ranked Hutchinson (7-2).

Lawrence (7-2), following its 28-14 loss to FSHS on Friday, dropped out of the top five, occupied by No. 3 Derby (8-1), No. 4 Shawnee Mission West (8-1) and No. 5 Topeka (8-1).

The Firebirds also held steady at No. 4 in the poll’s Super 10, which ranks teams from all classes.

Unbeaten 5A power Bishop Carroll (9-0) sits atop the Super 10 poll, in which LHS was 14th.
