18 computers, valued at $30k, reported stolen from Art & Design building

Eighteen laptop computers, valued at more than $30,000, were reported stolen from the Kansas University Art & Design building, 1467 Jayhawk Blvd., Tuesday morning, according to a report from KU Public Safety.

Someone cut a lock off a cart to steal the computers, according to the report. The incident — reported at about 9:30 a.m.

As of Friday afternoon, KU Public Safety Capt. Schuyler Bailey said no updates on the case were available.

Likely an inside job. Otherwise, how would the thieves know the cart would be there, loaded with computers? It's not like someone was walking by and happened to notice them and had the means to carry them off right there and then.

I can confirm that they are indeed Macbooks. If you come across one, report it as stolen. It should be pretty obvious that it's stolen when powered on, given that the laptops haven't been reformatted.

It was reported in the Thursday UDK that it was the Art and Design building.
