Kansas University softball left fielder Maggie Hull was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division I third team, KU announced on Thursday.

Hull was one of six Big 12 players to earn the distinction and was the first Jayhawk to be named to the teams since 2009.

To be considered for the honor, athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA. Hull finished the year with a 4.0 GPA and a 3.78 cumulative.

Hull also led the Big 12 conference with a .409 batting average and was named to the All-Big 12 and Academic All-Big 12 first teams.
