The Lawrence Police Department responded to a fire after a riding lawn mower burst into flames on Saturday afternoon. The fire, which completely engulfed the mower, occurred at a rural home south of Lawrence. Five police units responded and they were able to extinguish the fire quickly and safely. No one was injured.

No seriously, it probably took all 5 units portable fire extinguishers to extinguish it out. They have them on board cars to respond to fire traffic emergencies. Neither a gasoline or electrical fire should be put out by water. But ya Verrrrrrrrrrrrr strange as to why they would not wait for the time it takes for a rural firetruck response, and let it possibly spread to or engulf adjacent property and/or other structures.

Five Police units? SERIOUSLY?? Can someone explain to me why that was necessary? Is the owner brain dead? They couldn't put it out or just let it burn out on it's own? Strange. Verrrrrrrrrrrrr strange!!
