KU soccer camps: Kansas University will hold several youth soccer camps this summer. A Weekicks Camp for boys and girls in grades K-5 will run 9-11:30 a.m. June 11-15. A Day Camp for boys and girls grades 5-8 will run 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 11-15. Girls Residential and Team Camps run July 13-16 and July 17-20 for girls in grades 4-12. Aquahawks openings: The Lawrence Aquahawks swimming team is always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. The Aquahawks offer a swim lesson program and competitive swim team for all ages. The Aquahawks are coached by professional coaches with weekly practices geared toward a variety of skill levels. Youth football camp: The Lawrence/Free State youth football camp will be Monday, June 25 through Wednesday, June 27 at Lawrence High School. The camp is for children in third through eighth grades. Blastball: Blastball, an entry-level sport that teaches baseball and softball fundamentals, will be offered by the Lawrence Parks & Recreation Department this summer for boys and girls ages 4-5. LHS scholarship golf tourney: The 13th Annual Lawrence Lions Alumni Association Scholarship Golf Tournament is at 8 a.m., June 16 at Alvamar Golf Course. Entry fee is $75 per golfer and includes golf, cart, prizes, and lunch. The tournament is NOT limited to LHS Alumni. Lawrence Swim School: The Lawrence Swim School is accepting registrations for 2012 summer swimming lessons to be held June and July at KU’s Robinson Natatorium. Jayhawk baseball camps: The Little League Day Camp for ages 5-12 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on June 11-14 at Hoglund Ballpark. The Super Skills Camp for ages 9-12 will be June 28 (1-5 p.m.) and June 29-July 1 (9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Hoglund Ballpark. Lunch will be provided for three days. The KU Baseball All-Star Camp for ages 13-18 will be July 26-29 at KU. The camp includes daily instructional sessions, scrimmage games, team concept and more. College coaches will be on staff. Lawrence wrestlers: Two West Middle School wrestlers placed at the State Freestyle/Greco Roman tournament on May 6 in Hutchison. At 77 pounds, Tate Steele placed second in Greco and first in Freestyle. At 128 pounds, Tucker Wilson placed second in Greco and fourth in Freestyle.

Vipond hole-in-one: Suzy Vipond used a 6-hybrid to card a hole-in-one on the 121-yard No. 8 hole at Alvamar Golf Course on Tuesday. Witnesses were Linda Randall, Belinda Thompson and Barbara Perry.

LHS tennis summer workouts: The Lawrence High tennis team will have summer workouts for any players eligible to play for LHS in the 2012-13 school year. Workouts will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from June 5 through July 12 (with the exception of July 4 week) at LHS courts. Core West winner: The U10 K.C. Core West soccer team won the Nutmeg Tournament over the weekend in Kansas City, Mo. Players are: Alex Bellevia, Abby Stallworth, Kiara Jadlow, Kenzie Rorabaugh, Harper Sandefur, Rileigh Schmidt, Regan Turpin, I’yawa Brewer, Ainsley Stallworth, Brianna Ross and Caitlyn Champagne. Allie Rorabaugh was injured. Coach was Riny de Boer.

Core West award: The U9 K.C. Core West soccer team won the coaches’ Sportsmanship Award at the Nutmeg Tournmanet. Players were: Ainsley Stallworth, Mikyla Williams, Ella Howard, Olivia Ferguson, Jadyn Wymore, Katie Logan, Bella Carter, Heather Wombwell, Brecken Ostronic, Katherine Wombwell, Julie Blosser and Allie Rorabaugh (injured).
