Kansas University junior left fielder Maggie Hull earned first-team All-Big 12 honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.

KU freshmen Maddie Stein and Chanin Naudin made the second team.

Hull, a Free State High product, was the Big 12’s regular-season batting leader with a .409 mark, breaking KU’s single-season batting average record that had stood since 1979. On defense, she committed only two errors and tracked down 91 putouts.

“Maggie has worked extremely hard for three years and she is so deserving of this honor,” KU coach Megan Smith said. “She has represented our program as well as anyone could for the last three years and I am just really proud of her and what she has been able to accomplish.”

Stein, a native of El Reno, Okla., ended had the season as Kansas’ starting first baseman and had the team’s second highest batting average this season. Naudin, a third baseman from Las Flores, Calif., led the Jayhawks (31-20 overall, 6-17 Big 12) with 15 RBIs in conference play.

“The fact that two freshmen are on the all-conference team is exciting to see,” Smith said. “Both Chanin and Maddie are two of our hardest workers and that proves that hard work pays off. They are two dynamic players that are going to do big things for us the next three years. We’re making strides and we feel really good about the progress we made this year and we feel really good about where we are going to be next year.”

Hull was the first KU player to earn a top Big 12 postseason award since the league recognized Serena Settlemier and Kassie Humphreys in 2006.
