Former Free State High baseball star Cody Kukuk was arrested for driving under the influence, a misdemeanor traffic offense, Monday morning in Fort Myers, Fla., according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department.

Kukuk, 19, was booked at 4:44 a.m. and bonded out at 10:25 a.m., a spokesman said.

Kukuk, selected by the Boston Red Sox in the seventh round of last June’s draft, signed an $800,000 bonus in August. Kukuk had signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Kansas University but opted to go directly to professional baseball.

This is the kind of stuff that will absolutely smoke his chances of making it to the Bigs.

The teams in the Show don't want to deal with character issues.

If pro sports have taught us anything, it's that they won't put of with talented players with character issues. Sarcasm.

People hate while Kuk stacks cake. If any of you knew his REAL character (which means knowing him on a personal level, not just as a name and talent) you would be proud to call him your son. ALL HUMANS make mistakes, his hard work, dedication and love for the game of baseball does not deserve this character bashing.

Errr. . . What character bashing? Considering he was arrested for a DUI, what you see here is pretty tame.

read Clickker...."the teams in the Show (red sox in MLB) dont want to deal with character issues" the article is about Kukuk.....

..need i say more?

Here's a clue.....Not sure Cody is the next Manny Ramirez. And $800k is NOTHING it the Red Sox. Besides, it is sunk at this point. They look at the cost of the 'investment' going forward.

"..need i say more?"

Nah. I don't think, looking at the thread, that you actually would have any more to say.

Nor do I need to say more, either, I suppose. That single line is absurdly tame from a. . . "character bashing" perspective, to what is seen here every day.

/the fact that it's pretty off-base from an MLB reality-based standpoint is another issue entirely.

True.

But if you are on the Greyhound bus circuit instead of the Charter plane circuit, you had better be real good, or things like this hurt you. Of course, it is baseball, and you presumably get three strikes............STEEEERRRIIKE ONE!!

I'm willing to put a sizable bet down that "Clickker" rode the bench during every sport he played. This article is just giving him the opportunity to bash someone with TALENT that made a mistake. Stay sitting "Clickker" cause you'll never get a chance at the plate, so continue counting everyone else's strikes.

It is very disappointing. I don't think it kills his career, but he used up a "mulligan", so he better not do this again, and if he struggles early, the Sox may not be as patient.
