KU boat wins C-USA title

? Kansas University’s first varsity four placed first at the 2012 Conference USA Rowing Championship on Saturday. As a team, KU finished eighth overall with 16 total points.

The boat of seniors Kathryn Schoonover, Paige Stephens and coxswain Lindsey Bricklemyer and juniors Ashleigh Allam and Emily Starr won in a time of 7:35.5. The varsity four also won the Knecht Cup on April 15 and the Big 12 Championship on April 28.

KU advanced to the grand final in the open four, novice eight and varsity four. In the open four final, the Jayhawks finished fifth in 8:15.46. In the novice eight grand final, KU finished fifth in 7:16.92.

The Jayhawks then finished second and third, respectively, in the petite final of the second varsity eight and first varsity eight.

Junior Olivia Kinet was named to the 2012 All-Conference USA Team.
