National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility gets $75 million in budget

Funding for the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility to be built in Manhattan overcame one hurdle Wednesday as $75 million in construction funding was included in a proposed budget from within the House of Representatives.

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security released its fiscal year 2013 Homeland Security Appropriations bill Wednesday, which included the $75 million for NBAF. It brings the federal funding commitment for NBAF to a total of $165 million.

U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Kan., voiced support for the bill in a media release, saying, “I am pleased that the House Appropriations Committee has once again recognized the dire need for NBAF in our efforts to fulfill this responsibility to the American people.”
