25 years ago: Rep. Branson wins award from ARC

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for May 6, 1987:

  • State Rep. Jessie Branson was presented with the Distinctive Services Award at the ARC/Kansas convention this week. During her recent years as Representative, she had consistently worked for funding for the needs of people with developmental disabilities, according to ARC representatives.
  • The Fourth of July was still two months away, but fans of the Independence Days celebration were invited to a poster-signing event at the First National Bank, 900 Massachusetts. Attendees could meet painter Louis Copt, who was the artist behind the first full-color poster advertising the event.
