Merchandise, cash stolen in Friday morning burglary of AT&T store on Sixth Street

Two suspects Friday morning burglarized the AT&T store at 4821 W. Sixth St. and stole several items inside the business, said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence police spokesman.

Police responded to an alarm at 6:40 a.m. at the store near Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive, and officers determined by video inside the store that two men entered the back of the business and took merchandise and a small amount of cash during a short period of time.

Investigators believed the suspects knew there was video surveillance inside because they had completely covered their bodies. McKinley said it did not appear they had to force the doors open, but once inside they did force open locked containers to get to merchandise. Police asked anyone with information in the case to call Douglas County Crime Stoppers at 785-843-TIPS (8477).
