Sobriety checkpoint planned near De Soto

Johnson County Sheriff’s officers and the Kansas Highway Patrol will conduct a sobriety checkpoint near De Soto late Friday and early Saturday, said Master Deputy Tom Erickson, a sheriff’s spokesman.

“Drivers suspected of being intoxicated will be given brief sobriety tests, and those drivers who are confirmed to be impaired will be arrested,” Erickson said.

He would not reveal the exact location of the checkpoint.

“Efforts will be made not to severely interrupt the flow of traffic,” Erickson said, asking for drivers to be patient in the area.
