40 years ago: Burglaries occur during spring break

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for March 25, 1972:

  • A federally-subsidized housing project near 17th and Haskell was 85 percent completed, according to Hugh Dunkum, director of the Lawrence Housing Authority. Dunkum said that the authority would begin taking applications in April for July occupancy of the 130 available units in the Edgewood project.
  • Thomas Albracht, 748 Arkansas, reported to police that a motorcycle had been stolen from the yard of his home. The 1967 cycle, valued at $200, had been parked in the yard with a “For Sale” sign on it. Also, Kansas University students living at Park 25 Apartments reported that their apartment had been broken into while they were away on spring break. Books, clothing, a typewriter, and some household items were missing, the students said.
