Notre Dame drops Kansas baseball

? Notre Dame pitchers Will Hudgins and Cristian Torres combined to shut out the Kansas University baseball team, 1-0, on Friday at the Irish Baseball Classic.

Hudgins pitched 72/3 innings for the win, striking out eight and walking zero, despite allowing six hits. Torres cleaned up in a final hitless inning for the save.

The Jayhawks outhit the Fighting Irish, 6-5, but couldn’t do anything with their chances on base. Tucker Tharp led KU with a 2-for-3 outing at the plate, but his lone out came on a double play that left Jayhawks at first and third.

Frank Duncan allowed just four hits in his seven innings for Kansas, walking four and striking out five.

The Jayhawks (8-9) will play their third game of the tournament at 4 p.m. today against Houston Baptist.
