Sheriff’s deputies plan saturation patrol Friday night

Douglas County Sheriff’s officers will conduct a saturation patrol Friday evening as deputies target impaired drivers, said Sgt. Steve Lewis, a sheriff’s spokesman.

Lewis said extra deputies will be on patrol late in the evening and into the early morning hours that night. The sheriff’s office will conduct a second saturation patrol on April 14.

In addition to impaired drivers, officers will also target drivers for speeding and seat belt use violations as well as compliance with all traffic laws. The patrols are part of a partnership with the Kansas Traffic Safety Resource Office, a division of the Kansas Department of Transportation.
