Homeless shelter’s permit extended until fall
City commissioners at their Tuesday evening meeting unanimously approved a permit extension that will allow the Lawrence Community Shelter to continue operating downtown until its new eastern Lawrence facility is completed this fall.
The homeless shelter plans to move in mid-September from its 10th and Kentucky location to a renovated building near the Douglas County Jail.
