Two-vehicle accident on Farmers’ Turnpike sends 2 to Lawrence Memorial Hospital

A Lecompton woman and a Topeka man were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Monday morning after a two-vehicle accident northwest of Lawrence on North 1800 Road, also known as the Farmers’ Turnpike.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Carrie G. Hope, 47, of Lecompton at 9 a.m. was headed east on North 1800 Road when her 2001 Toyota truck rear-ended a 1993 Lincoln car that had stopped and was waiting to turn left. The accident occurred just west of East 700 Road.

Randy C. Glover, 44, of Topeka, was a passenger in the Lincoln. He was also taken to LMH. The driver of the Lincoln, Ronald Sampson, 51, also of Topeka, was listed as injured, but the report does not indicate he was taken to a hospital.

Everyone involved wore seat belts.

Hope and Glover both had been treated and released by Monday afternoon, LMH spokeswoman Belinda Rehmer said.
