Jacksonville, Fla. ? Five Kansas University softball players hit home runs as KU beat down Delaware State, 17-1, on Friday at the Osprey Classic and tied a 1992 school record for consecutive wins, with 17.

Mariah Montgomery belted two of the home runs in a 10-run fourth inning. Fellow Jayhawks Maggie Hull, Liz Kocon and Marissa Ingle also knocked pitches out of the park.

Alicia Pille picked up the run-rule-shortened victory for the Jayhawks, allowing just one unearned run to seven strikeouts in four innings.

Pille has not allowed an earned run in 20 innings.

In an earlier game on Friday, Ashley Newman’s three hits led the Jayhawks to a 5-2 victory over the Hornets.

It was the second time this season that Newman recorded a three-hit performance.

Kansas (17-2) will try to win a school-record 18th game in a row at 1:30 p.m. today against North Florida. Then, at 4 p.m., KU will get its third and final shot at Delaware State.
