Aquahawks openings: The Lawrence Aquahawks swimming team is always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. The Aquahawks offer a swim lesson program and competitive swim team for all ages. The Aquahawks are coached by professional coaches with weekly practices geared toward a variety of skill levels. Youth soccer camps: Several “You are fantastic” youth soccer camps are slated on the Kansas University campus, all in room 215 at Robinson Gym. Coed third through eighth grades: 5:30-7 p.m. Mondays; coed preschool-third grades: 6-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays; girls K-4: 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesdays; girls fourth-eighth grades: 5:30-7 p.m. Thursdays. FUNdamental Softball: Learn the proper mechanics and techniques to playing softball. Premier soccer openings: KC Core Soccer of Lawrence is forming new premier teams in Lawrence. We are currently recruiting for U9 (2nd and 3rd grades) and U10 (4th grade) girls teams. Teams are being formed now with practices in Lawrence and league play in the Spring Heartland Soccer League. Softball registration: Lawrence Girls Fast Pitch Softball Registration runs Feb. 1-April 2 for all age groups — 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U. The 8U Division-Machine Pitch teams will be formed by individual registrations from schools and grades. 8U players must be 8 years of age or younger on Jan. 1, 2012. Cost is $65 per child. The 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U divisions will be Team Registrations. Fee: $900 per team. Player’s eligibility is determined by age as of Jan.1, 2012. No more than 8 teams in each division. KU soccer camps: Kansas University will hold several youth soccer camps this summer. A Weekicks Camp for boys and girls in grades K-5 will run 9-11:30 a.m. June 11-15. A Day Camp for boys and girls grades 5-8 will run 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 11-15. Girls Residential and Team Camps run July 13-16 and July 17-20 for girls in grades 4-12. Eudora T-ball/baseball/softball: Sign-up is open for Eudora Amateur Baseball and Softball Association summer ball program (T-ball, baseball, softball). Registration deadline is March 16 with late fees. This program is a rec program focusing on youth development and good sportsmanship. KU baseball camps: There will be two Jayhawk Baseball Camp offerings this spring. The four-week Hitting Academies, for ages 8-14, will run 6-8 p.m. in four-week sessions in March and April. Aquahawks results: The Lawrence Aquahawks Swim Team had several swimmers qualify and compete in the Region VIII Speedo Spring Sectionals Championship swim meet this past weekend in Tulsa, Okla. Courtney Caldwell, Ben Sloan, Phoebe Grabill and Zach Andregg qualified for top 24 finals in several individual events. Eliza Anderson, Elizabeth Rudman, Josh Terrell and Connor Munk qualified for finals in relay events. Caldwell set an Aquahawk record in the 50 freestyle. Sloan, Andregg and Caldwell move on to 2012 NCSA Junior National Swimming Championships March 20-25 in Orlando, Fla.

GTR events: Gametime Recreation (940 E. 28th Street) has several events scheduled during spring break. They include open gyms on March 17 and March 19-23.
