Aquahawks openings: The Lawrence Aquahawks swimming team is always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. Softball registration: Lawrence Girls Fast Pitch Softball Registration runs Feb. 1-April 2 for all age groups — 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U. The 8U Division-Machine Pitch teams will be formed by individual registrations from schools and grades. 8U players must be 8 years of age or younger on Jan. 1, 2012. Cost is $65 per child. Aquahawks results: The Lawrence Aquahawks Swim Team had several swimmers qualify and compete in the Region VIII Speedo Spring Sectionals Championship swim meet this past weekend in Tulsa, Okla. Courtney Caldwell, Ben Sloan, Phoebe Grabill and Zach Andregg qualified for top 24 finals in several individual events. Eliza Anderson, Elizabeth Rudman, Josh Terrell and Connor Munk qualified for finals in relay events. Caldwell set an Aquahawk record in the 50 freestyle. Sloan, Andregg and Caldwell move on to 2012 NCSA Junior National Swimming Championships March 20-25 in Orlando, Fla.
