Baker University hires chief academic officer

Baker University has hired a new chief academic officer for its four schools.

Brian Posler, associate provost for academic affairs at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, will become Baker’s new executive vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences on July 1.

Posler, originally from Manhattan, Kan., visited the Baldwin City campus in February and was chosen over three other finalists.

The position is a new one that combines the chief academic officer function and the arts and sciences dean.

“Dr. Posler embodies the ideals of Baker and has the highest integrity,” Baker University President Pat Long said in a written statement. “He will play a critical role on our academic leadership team in promoting and implementing long-term, innovative initiatives that will enhance Baker’s reputation and growth potential.”
