San Antonio Kansas University managed just two runs off six hits in a 7-2 college baseball loss to undefeated Gonzaga on Sunday, the Jayhawks’ third straight loss.
KU (5-5) scratched out single runs in the first and second innings, but the Bulldogs banged 14 hits off three KU pitchers.
Senior Andy Hunter (2-0) allowed both runs off all six hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks over eight innings.
Thomas Taylor (1-1) took the loss after giving up five runs — all earned — off 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings. He came in having hot allowed a run this season, a streak of 14 1/3 scoreless innings.
Offensively, Kevin Kuntz was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI as the only Jayhawk with more than one hit.
KU will host North Dakota at 3 p.m. Tuesday in its home opener.
