KU softball streak hits 14

? Kansas University softball ran its winning streak to 14 with two victories Friday.

KU beat Charleston Southern, 6-3, and Connecticut, 8-0, in six innings.

Against Charleston Southern (10-7), the Jayhawks took a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh before the Buccaneers rallied.

But Kristin Martinez picked up her first save in relief of Morgan Druhan (5-0).

Ashley Newman led KU offensively, going 4-for-4 with two runs. Rosie Hull was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.

Against UConn, Alicia Pille (6-2) allowed just one hit over the full six innings, with 10 strikeouts.

Newman had three hits and Mariah Montgomery and Lexi Bryant two each for KU.

Montgomery also had two RBIS.

Kansas will face Wisconsin at 8 this morning and play a bracket-round game against a to-be-determined foe later today.
