Franklin County Sheriff’s home damaged in fire

A small fire damaged the exterior of Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Curry’s home in Ottawa on Sunday afternoon, said Ottawa Fire Chief Jeff Carner.

Carner said the fire in the 1600 block of South Chestnut Street occurred when embers from an outdoor smoker used for cooking spread to vegetation and eventually damaged the outside of the house. Carner said no one was displaced by the fire, which caused less than $10,000 in damage.
