25 years ago: KU worker lands big catfish at Potter Lake

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for June 26, 1987:

Michael Garrett, 27, a worker at the Kansas Union, reported today that he had caught a catfish weighing about 13 pounds yesterday at Potter Lake on the Kansas University campus. “A little kid, he helped me pull it out. It’s 30 inches long,” Garrett said. A representative at KU’s landscaping department said that Potter Lake was a fairly popular fishing spot but that most people caught smaller fish such as bluegills. Garrett’s catch was especially appropriate, since the day on which he had caught it was National Catfish Day.
