Lawrence police arrested Tyrone D. Edwards, a 36-year-old Lawrence man with five outstanding warrants, after a short foot pursuit Friday morning.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley said that shortly after 7 a.m. an officer was checking the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Ousdahl Road in an effort to find the man.

While there, the officer saw the man drive into the parking lot, McKinley said, after which the man left his vehicle and fled on foot. Officers pursued the man and arrested him near the 1600 block of West 22nd Terrace.

Edwards was booked into jail on five warrants for failure to appear in court as well as new charges of driving while suspended, obstruction of legal process and possession of a controlled substance.
