Lawrence police are investigating an altercation Sunday night in south Lawrence in which gunshots were fired in a parking lot.
Sgt. Trent McKinley, a police spokesman, said officers received a report about the sound of gunfire at 9:22 p.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Iowa Street. Officers determined there was an altercation in the parking lot near the Holiday Inn Express and that several shots were fired in the lot and a nearby driveway. Police did recover shell casings. No injuries were reported, and parties involved left in two vehicles before officers arrived, McKinley said.
Police ask anyone with information to call detectives, 830-7430, or Douglas County Crime Stoppers at 843-TIPS (8477). He said a reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest of those involved.
