Reading of ‘Candle for Freddy’ Sunday

EMU Theatre is performing a staged reading of “A Candle for Freddy” Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Lawrence Public Library’s auditorium, 707 Vt.

The play, written by local playwright D.A. Baranski, is about a family gathering to commemorate a tragedy. As the family members grapple for closure, hope for peace and try to forget the tragedy, a ghost from the past brings a new perspective to the event. “Freddy” is the first play in a planned trilogy called The Grey House Trilogy by Baranski.

The staged reading, which is a minimalist performance, with actors blocking but no set, is directed by D.P. Born. The cast includes Misty Nuckolls, Brett Scott, Diana Smith Rockwell, Matt Pelsma, Jean Ann Pike, Nick Stock and Carol Holstead.
