New principal of middle school named
West Middle School assistant principal Jeff Harkin has been named the new principal of Liberty Memorial Central Middle School.
Harkin will replace Anna Stubblefield, who oversaw Liberty Memorial Central for four years and was promoted to the district’s division director of human resources.
Come fall, Harkin will have spent time in all four of the district’s middle schools. For the past three years, Harkin has been assistant principal at West. Prior to that assignment, Harkin was an assistant principal for three years at Pioneer Trail Junior High in Olathe and was an interim assistant principal for one year at Southwest.
He has also taught social studies for one year at South and 11 years at West. For six years at West, Harkin doubled as an athletics director.
Liberty Memorial Central serves 438 sixth- to eighth-grade students.
