Perry woman in good condition after crash near Kansas Turnpike

A 40-year-old Perry woman was in a Kansas City-area hospital Monday after she was injured Friday evening in a crash near the Kansas Turnpike.

Jill Chadwick, a Kansas University Hospital spokeswoman, said the woman, Shelly Gorman, was listed in good condition Monday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, Gorman at 5:10 p.m. Friday was headed south on Kansas Highway 10 near the turnpike when her 1999 Ford Ranger was struck by a northbound 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Jeffrey Clark, 33, of Leavenworth.

Clark was attempting to turn left onto a turnpike ramp at the Lecompton interchange, the report said. Clark was not injured, but his passenger, Lisa Clark, 27, also of Leavenworth, was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. An LMH spokeswoman said she has been treated and released.

Gorman was eventually transferred from LMH to KU Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. All three people involved wore their seat belts.
