The Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission is looking for artists worthy of winning the next Phoenix Awards.

This year marks the 17th annual Phoenix Awards, which recognize outstanding artistic achievements in the Lawrence community.

Nominations are open to artists in visual, literary, musical, theatrical and media arts. Arts educators, administrators, advocates and volunteers also are eligible. Additionally, awards may include a special Exceptional Artistic Achievement award.

The deadline to nominate someone for the awards is Aug. 24. Find nomination instructions online at lawrenceks.org/advisory_boards/lac/phoenix, or pick up instructions at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H.; Lawrence City Hall, 6 E. Sixth St.; and the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.

Winners will be formally presented with awards during a Nov. 4 reception at the Lawrence Arts Center.
