Aquahawks openings: The Lawrence Aquahawks swimming team is always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. The Aquahawks offer a swim lesson program and competitive swim team for all ages. The Aquahawks are coached by professional coaches with weekly practices geared toward a variety of skill levels. FUNdamental Softball: Learn the proper mechanics and techniques to playing softball. Lawrence Bicycle Club: Beginner’s Ride takes place Mondays through Labor Day. 6:15 for Tech Tips, 6:45 ride begins. Meet at Cycle Works, 2121 Kasold. 10-15 miles@10-12 mph. Helmets, water bottle required.

LHS fall sports meeting: The Lawrence High fall sports informational meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 5 in the LHS auditorium. Fall sports forms may be submitted at the meeting. Notaries will be available. The fall forms deadline is Aug 9.

Youth wrestling clinic: There will be a youth wrestling clinic from 6-7 p.m. July 17, 19, 24, 26 and 31 and Aug. 2, 7 and 9 in the South Gym (at Eighth and Chapel streets) in Baldwin. Cost is $15 and includes a shirt. For information, contact Kit Harris at 785-221-8025 or

Henrickson tourney: The eighth annual Bonnie Henrickson Golf Tournament will be Aug. 25 at Alvamar Country Club. Registration for the event is available for singles, pairs and foursomes. All proceeds from the tournament will go to Kansas University women’s basketball and the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Breast Center. The event includes a four-person scramble at 1 p.m., followed by a dinner and live and silent auctions at 6 p.m. Prizes will also be awarded for best four-women team, best four-man team, best four-person mixed team, longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one. Recruiting combine: The eScout4u Football & Soccer Recruiting Combine will be July 21 at the Eudora District Stadium. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with testing to follow at 9. The combine is for eighth- through 12th-graders. For information, contact coach Mays at or 785-312-1729.

Flag football: NFL Youth Flag Football will be offered for grades K through 6 with games in Eudora, Baldwin City and Wellsville. Price per participant is $35. Free State fall softball camp: The 5 Tool Softball School (grades 4 through 8) is taking registration for the camp that will be offered at Free State High School this fall. Eagle Bend best ball: A two-man best-ball event will be held at 1 p.m. July 21 at Eagle Bend. Tee times will be posted after that. The cost of $50 per person includes greens fee, cart and prizes. Those interested can sign up at the Eagle Bend pro shop.

Golf Academy: Yucaipa Valley Golf Club, managed by Billy Casper Golf, will host a week-long TOUR Academy Junior Camp, beginning on Monday, July 23 at Alvamar. It is designed for golfers ages 7 to 16 and of all abilities, and instruction focuses on full swing, woods, putting, chipping, grip, stance, rules and etiquette fundamentals. Full-day participants ($495 / week) play nine holes with an instructor daily with lunch provided. Sessions run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Half-day golfers ($275 / week) benefit from range practice and instruction from 9 a.m. to noon.

Phenix 8U seeking: Lawrence Phenix 8U fastpitch team is looking for girls that are not 9 before Jan. 1 and are interested in playing competitive fastpitch. This team will play in two tournaments this fall and play in the Lawrence Girls Fastpitch League and a few tournaments next summer. Wrestling results: Several Lawrence Elite Wrestling Club members placed at the Sunflower State Games. Five Tool Softball forming: Five Tool Softball School is forming a 14U tournament-level softball team for the 2013 summer season. Tryouts will be at 6 p.m. July 25 and 9 a.m. July 28 at the Free State High softball field. For information, call Steve Seratte at 760-1446.

Vipers tryouts: Lawrence Vipers 14U softball will hold tryouts from 10-11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 5 at YSC field No. 5. Vipers play tournaments in the Kansas City, Topeka and Lawrence areas and are looking for girls with 1998-99 birthdays for fall and next season. Attack tryouts: DC ATTACK, a girls fastpitch organizations at multiple ages and play levels, will hold tryouts: 12U-B from 7-8:30 p.m. July 21 at YSC No. 6; 12U-C from 7-8:30 p.m. July 21 at YSC No. 5; and 14U-B from 7-8:30 p.m. July 24 at YSC No. 4.
