40 years ago: Quarrel of unknown cause leads to shooting in KU dorm

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for July 18, 1972:

Details were sketchy this morning on a recent shooting incident on the Kansas University campus over the weekend. According to KU Traffic and Security, one student had shot another in the left shoulder as they were quarreling in Oliver Hall. The victim had been taken to Watkins Hospital where he had been treated and released. Police had not been notified of the occurrence until the next day, when a Watkins official had called them. Both men were unwilling to talk to police about the incident.and officials had no idea of the cause of the quarrel. The small-caliber gun had not yet been recovered.
