Douglas County Sheriff’s officers suspect the driver in a one-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday afternoon south of Eudora was under the influence of alcohol.

Sgt. Steve Lewis, a sheriff’s spokesman, said at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday officers were seeking a warrant to draw blood from the person believed to be driving a 1999 Kia Sportage that crashed about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of North 900 Road and County Road 1061.

The four people in the vehicle when it crashed were being uncooperative with officers, Lewis said.

Three of the vehicle’s occupants were taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, and one person was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, Lewis said.

The crash occurred when the driver was headed west on North 900 Road and the car struck gravel near the intersection with County Road 1061, causing the vehicle to roll.

Two of the vehicle’s occupants were from out of state, but additional information about the people involved was not available Tuesday afternoon.

Drunk at 1:45 in the afternoon? I'm excited about the chocolate beer too but c'mon!

What is this chocolate beer? Facebook is blowing up about it but I've never heard of it or seen it before.

Limited run of Boulevard. It hit stores yesterday and is already almost sold out. Or maybe it is sold out by now.

That reminds me of a very unfortunate event that occurred years ago on Highway 36 just east of the Colorado line.

There are no curves for about ten miles, and the owner of the car was in the back seat. The intoxicated driver failed to notice that he had arrived at the turn. He drove off the road at a very high rate of speed, and everyone in the car was killed except for him.

If he had kept his mouth shut,,,

Why, surely the owner of the car was driving, right? No one would question that story.

No such thing as a "smart drunk." Anyone that drives drunk is stupid. I hope "the man" throws everyone of the "smart drunks" in jail before they kill someone.

Ever carry a friend and their mom to their grave because of a "smart drunk" killed them? It sucks. Had "the man" caught the idiot that killed my friends, they might still be alive.

b8es, while your arguments has merit, it's surely illegal for the owner of a car to allow an intoxicated driver to drive it.

Put him on trial for that.

That's categorically false. The police can compel a blood test.

One should never drink to excess and then go somewhere driving a vehicle manufactured by a company called KIA.

"The only Democrat invited to the dinners, Sen. Kelly Kultala of Kansas City, said she didn’t attend because she believed the invitation was a mistake."

A mistake...or an ambush!
