Alcohol suspected as factor in rollover accident south of Eudora

Douglas County Sheriff’s officers suspect the driver in a one-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday afternoon south of Eudora was under the influence of alcohol.

Sgt. Steve Lewis, a sheriff’s spokesman, said at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday officers were seeking a warrant to draw blood from the person believed to be driving a 1999 Kia Sportage that crashed about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of North 900 Road and County Road 1061.

The four people in the vehicle when it crashed were being uncooperative with officers, Lewis said.

Three of the vehicle’s occupants were taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, and one person was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, Lewis said.

The crash occurred when the driver was headed west on North 900 Road and the car struck gravel near the intersection with County Road 1061, causing the vehicle to roll.

Two of the vehicle’s occupants were from out of state, but additional information about the people involved was not available Tuesday afternoon.
