No injuries reported in house fire at 22nd Court and Cove Street

Firefighters responded to a house fire in southwest Lawrence on Monday night. No one was injured.

The fire began about 8:00 p.m. at a two-story residence near the intersection of Cove Street and 22nd Court. Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Chief Mark Bradford said the fire started in a bedroom on the second floor. A significant fire had worked its way into the attic space by the time firefighters arrived, Bradford said. Firefighters contained the fire in about 25 minutes.

One resident was home and escaped without harm.

The fire burned a hole through the roof of the house. Bradford said the home experienced significant damage.
