Wichita Sunrise hammers Veritas boys

? Elijah Penny and Andrew Currier scored seven points apiece, but the Veritas Christian boys basketball team fell to Wichita Sunrise, 62-25, on Saturday.

Wichita Sunrise built a 22-6 lead after one quarter and a 34-12 advantage at halftime.

“This was our second game in 18 hours, and we were a step slow,” Veritas coach Gary Hammer said. “We didn’t have any gas in the tanks today. They just outplayed us.”

The previous night, the Eagles fell to Derby Invasion.

“It was a learning experience,” Hammer said.

Veritas (9-5) will play Tuesday at Manhattan Chief in St. George.
