From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Jan. 13, 1987:

  • Lawrence school board members had decided to move ahead on plans for several building projects. Additions to Kennedy, Schwegler, and Hillcrest schools were planned, as well as a new elementary school to be built on Inverness Drive.
  • Kansas University's director of support services Rodger Oroke said that he was planning to meet with KU budget officials this week to discuss cost-cutting possibilities in facilities operations. One of the items being considered was a work furlough.
