Veritas boys edge past Cair Paravel

? The Veritas Christian boys picked up their third basketball victory in four days by eking out a 30-28 win Monday at Cair Paravel.

Veritas trailed for most of the game, including an 18-15 halftime deficit.

“It was hard to score,” coach Gary Hammer said. “We didn’t shoot very well and had a lot of turnovers. We were playing catch-up the whole game.”

Cair Paravel led most of the way until three minutes remained in the fourth quarter.

With less than a minute remaining, Veritas’ Andrew Currier scored his only points to put the Eagles ahead 30-28. Cair Paravel missed a shot on the final possession.

“It was our third game in four days, so our legs are a little tired and we need a little break here,” said Hammer.

The Eagles (8-3) return to play Jan. 17 at Northland Christian in Kansas City, Mo.
