Topeka remembers victims of gun violence

? Topeka had two ceremonies Sunday to remember victims of gun violence nationally and locally.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that Bias Busters and the Stop the Violence Memorial Committee were holding a tree dedication ceremony Sunday night in memory of Corey Brown.

The 39-year-old Brown was an owner of a shopping center. He disappeared Tuesday, and his body was found Thursday morning in Douglas County. Authorities are investigating the case as a “suspicious death.”

The Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site also was putting on a candlelight vigil Sunday night. The vigil was being held in conjunction with a national effort to draw attention to victims of gun violence.
