I know that just recently it was an environmentally concerning 60 degrees outside, but friends, one of these days, it’s going to get cold.

And when it does, you’ll need the proper attire to fend off the much-belated, much-unappreciated winter weather. Throw a winter coat over the fall pieces featured in this edition of “Spotted it, Found it,” and you’ll be able to take on our frosty future with grace.

Puffer vest

I believe everyone — man and woman, teenager and retiree — should have one puffer vest in his/her closet. It’s a staple piece that can be worn season after season, and it’s the perfect bridge between a long-sleeved shirt and a heavy winter coat. They’re practical; they transcend generational dress codes; they look good on everyone. Choose a standard black one like the woman in the following photo has on or a funky, bright yellow one like the one I found at Hobbs. Just choose one. You deserve it.

Corduroy skirt

Corduroy is the ultimate winter fabric. Your best bet when it comes to a corduroy skirt is choosing a midi-length skirt that falls just below the knees. Slim fitting corduroy skirts, like the pink pencil skirt this woman is wearing or the slight A-line skirt at Wild Man Vintage, are usually your best bet for a flattering fit.

Boots

“There’s nothing more attractive than a man with a sturdy shoe,” my friend said to me as we were sitting on a sidewalk terrace on Mass. Street a couple days ago. Not only do I tend to agree, but I would also extend this sentiment to women. These industrial-style boots are everywhere in Lawrence this fall/winter, and you can find quite a large stock at Wild Man Vintage and Arizona Trading Company right now for a decent price.
