From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Jan. 8, 1972:

Rental applications for units in the Edgewood low-rent public housing area, then under construction at 17th and Haskell, were to be available beginning April 1, according to the city housing authority. The 130 units were expected to be ready for occupancy by July 1. In 1972, the estimated low income maximum for one person was $4,000 yearly, and $6,000 for a family of eight. In addition to the income requirements, special considerations were also to be given to people who were displaced, homeless, veterans, or elderly. Rents at Edgewood were to average about $40 to $50 per month, including utilities.
